Course Structure and Organisation

Semesters 1 to 4 (for students on the 6-semester and 7-semester programmes**):
Theoretical study phase: Lectures, exercises and business games in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economy, Law, Information Systems and specific lectures within the respective field of study.
Presentation of a talk on students’ activities during practical phases.
English, presentation techniques and an introduction to project management round off the subjects included in the curriculum.
Examinations are held in all subjects.
Practical Experience Phase: Participation in selected areas of company operations. Production of written practical experience reports based on the activities at the company.

Semesters 1-3 (for 7-semester programme**): 

During the first 3 semesters you study or consolidate one of the following additional foreign language subjects:

  • EnglishPLUS: Consolidation of further English language skills
  • Spanish: Spanish as a second foreign language (no prior knowledge necessary).

In the 3rd semester you participate in a 2-week block lesson session in either Spain or England. You also gain country-specific specialist knowledge of the respective culture and economic area.

Semesters 5, 6 and 7**:
Theoretical Study Phase: Consolidation of acquired theoretical knowledge in various compulsory elective subjects.
Term papers for selected subjects.
Practical Experience Phase: Largely independent work in various departments within the company.
Production of a written practice report.

Bachelor’s dissertation: Independent solution of an operational problem by means of application and documentation of previously acquired knowledge and skills.

Semester Structure

A semester is divided into alternating phases of practical experience and classroom study. Each week consists of approximately 20 hours of lectures at the University of Cooperative Education and approximately 20 hours of practical training in the company.
